Rural home within commuter
distance The very
poor state of these redundant farm buildings meant a great deal of
structural work had to be carried out before conversion took place but with
the help of the owner, plans were drawn up to change the buildings into a
spacious family home on one level. Taking advantage of the open fronted
design of the original buildings meant that large areas of glazing could be
incorporated, flooding the dwelling with natural light. Natural stone was
extended and stained timber was used throughout the scheme. This home offers
the best in rural living whilst being within easy commuter distance of
Bristol. |

Family's favourite room
A two-storey extension to a Victorian house was
supplemented by the inclusion of a single-storey day room benefiting from a
southerly aspect over large, mature gardens. The family admit to spending
most of their time in this room and appreciate the spacious qualities
of its interior. |

New house
with spacious accommodation
The original
dwelling on this site had low standard cramped accommodation and was
demolished to make way for a new family house of superb and spacious
proportions. Constructed partly with natural stone reclaimed from the
original building and incorporating modern materials and methods the house
enjoys stupendous south views and protection from the northerly winds.
High-quality
finishes and fittings including pvc-u windows and permanently coated
balustrading will answer the clients wish for a low maintenance home. |

Village hall for
a home A family house created from
a redundant village hall in Hampshire. Part of a large farm estate, this
building has been little changed externally with original openings and full
height windows being retained. The introduction of first-floor galleries
substantially increased the usable floor area. Stripped-boarded floors and
reclaimed timber enhance the mature ambiance of the building. |

Architect's
Studio A new, detached
multi-purpose space currently in use as the Architect's studio. If future
changes of occupation demand, the building could provide, very effectively,
a 'grannexe' or self-contained flatlet. Innovative heating, passive solar
gain design and extensive insulation contribute to an economic cost in use. |

New life for old
barn A near-derelict barn adjacent
to a Somerset farmhouse, restored and converted into self-contained living accommodation. Whereas it previously stood empty, it is now occupied for a
large part of the year, providing income for the owners and helping support
the local, rural economy. |

American inspired home
Plans and ideas were amalgamated
by the builder and the Architect to design a spacious family home with split
level accommodation, incorporating large areas of glazing to benefit the
house from natural light and expansive views. Ideas from America include the
window style, timber floors and security system. Difficult earthworks into
rock were overcome by using state of the art equipment. |
